Mychoice rewards finally hits Detroit
It takes a while for a parent company to add its own systems and brands to each property.
Penn agreed to purchase Greektown Casino operations in 2018 from Michigan billionaire Dan Gilbert, but it was not approved until May of last year.
After indicating over the summer the mychoice brand was coming soon to Michigan, Greektown made the change this week.

How to change GT Rewards to mychoice rewards
Players can bring their GT Rewards cards into the Player Services or Promotions counter at the casino, in addition to a temporary table set up outside of the high-limit gaming area.
Points carry over and you will be placed into one of five mychoice rewards tiers: Choice, Advantage, Preferred, Elite, and The Owners Club.
Prizes range from $10 for food for novices to luxury gifts such as a Mercedes-Benz lease and vacations for more valued guests.
But like any big changes in 2020, there were hiccups along the way.
During a visit on Thursday afternoon, lines were long at all of the designated mychoice areas. In addition, kiosks to redeem rewards were not operational or did not recognize accounts.
Patient patrons did eventually have their issues resolved and points were redeemed for free play or food vouchers.
Players can pad rewards points regionally
Greektown players can now pad their mychoice accounts at Penn’s casinos nationwide.
Penn’s 35 casinos in 16 states honor the program. That includes four facilities in Ohio, including Hollywood Casino in nearby Toledo.
Hollywood General Manager Justin Carter welcomed Greektown to the “mychoice family” Friday on social media.

“Whether you are a Toledo player who loves to go to Detroit, or a Detroit player who loves to come to Toledo, you now have two amazing destinations to not only earn, play, redeem,” Carter said. “It is just fantastic.”
Social casino also available for mychoice rewards
The social online casino mychoicecasino.com is also now available on the Greektown Casino website.
Purchased credits there can earn mychoice tier points (50 cents of purchased credits gets you 1 tier point). Players also can earn points at the Greektown sportsbook, earning 1 tier point for a $10 straight or futures bet, or a $5 parlay.
Greektown will open the permanent Barstool Sportsbook next month.
The brand will power Greektown’s online sports betting, which also will launch later this year. The Barstool online sportsbook in Michigan is the only launch planned for the rest of 2020. The app is only available in Pennsylvania.
The mychoice rewards system also incorporates Penn’s Hollywood Casino online brand into the system. That, too, is slated to launch in late 2020.
That Greektown casino was in bankruptcy court.
I've persistently heard strange rumors about Greektown having been operated in such a manner that it was financially bleeding so as to have forced it into the bankruptcy court.
While you were there did you notice any persistently late bettors constantly winning at the craps tables?
I am not sure why they are in trouble financially, although we have 3 casinos in detroit that are within about a mile of each other not to mention Ceasers Windsor right across the Detroit river
Took out another $300 and went over to the MGM Grand where, in addition to being a much nicer place IMO, I did a lot better. Won $250 on craps and another $200 on BJ Switch. Didn't get a chance to check out Motor City so can't comment, maybe next visit.
Not only did I not notice late bettors in craps, but they were MUCH stricter on late betting than what I'm used to. At the casino I work at, pretty much any bet made before the dice are in the air is fair game, but at both casinos in D-Town the boxpeople refused to book center bets once the the dice went out of the center, even just sitting in front of the shooter.
Two more things I noticed. First, the craps dealers at both casinos seemed to be fairly new, lots of mistakes and the game moved pretty slowly. Being a new dealer myself I can understand, and even gave me a bit of hope. Second, both casinos have hop bets on the layouts, and for some reason they are very popular with some players--another reason why the game moved so slowly. At one point the hop & center action got so ridiculous that the stickman said 'This is not a roulette table!' I thought that was pretty funny.

Just don't do too well at video poker there (link).
I like the GreekTown quote that by barring good players it allows them to keep the high payback machines for the people who are too stupid to know how to play them. I am paraphrasing.
I think the Wiz answered this a while back but what would the payback be on a FP JoB if I just hit Deal/Draw and never held anything.
Greektown Casino Blackjack Tables Prices
I just returned from a little mini-vacation in Detroit (strange place to vacation, I know, particularly in winter--but I'm crazy like that :-). First went to Greektown and unfortunately didn't have very good luck, lost $100 playing Pai Gow Poker, another $100 on Blackjack Switch, and the remainder of my bankroll (about $400 total) on craps. Dealers didn't seem like the happiest bunch either--though if their employer is bankrupt as reported it's somewhat understandable.

I agree, MGM is much nicer than Greektown and Motor City. I also witnessed some new craps dealers who didn't seem to know how to pay out the right winning bets and had to have people helping them, but I guess if they are new some of this is to be expected. Was at both MGM and Greektown and did not due well at either place. I have never had any luck at MGM, lost $160 at MGM and $400 at Greektown after about 7 hours of play - mixed it up between BJ, Craps and JoB VP. Got absolutely hammered at VP, maybe one 4 of a kind the whole time - was never up. Up maybe $25 on craps after 3 sessions. Broke even at BJ.
